Well, hello. Thanks for stopping by. Let me give you the scoop...
If I had to sum up Global Grub in one sentence, it would go something like this: Global Grub is a recipe for new cooking adventures, made with unconditional love, a dash of wanderlust and a very heavy handed drizzle of fun.
How did Global Grub come into existence, you ask? Along my cooking journey, I made it my mission to master cooking all the ethnic foods (from scratch) that I loved to devour. When I first set out to do this, I found myself uncertain about what recipes and techniques to use, and I also dreaded "collecting" all the random ingredients (that I knew I'd probably only use once or twice). But the actual cooking of new ethnic dishes made me feel adventurous, transported to another culture, and excited to share my international "labor of love." That's when I knew I had to find an easier way for home cooks to focus on the cooking itself, by eliminating the upfront hassles.
You might be wondering, then what? Well, I did something a little cray-cray: I jumped ship from my corporate job in pursuit of passion and my lifelong dream of starting my own business. I knew there was no better time. And I was just naive enough (in a good way) to jump in head first.
You're probably thinking, so you went to cooking school? Negative! I'm not a classically trained chef by any means, but rather a feisty home cook with a discerning pallet and ferocious appetite. My recipes are mostly inspired by places I’ve explored (20 countries and counting) and I’m lucky to be surrounded by many foodie family/friends that help perfect my recipes... over and over again. It can get pretty repetitive, but the perfectionist in me loves it.
Why? I hope Global Grub gives you that little extra nudge to branch out (because it's easy to make excuses and cook the same ol' things on rotation). I hope Global Grub helps you chase after that feeling when you're so proud to share a new "it-totally-turned-out" recipe (you know that feeling, right?). I hope it satiates your wanderlust.
What else? Global Grub is a labor of love, my "baby"... Well, my unofficial first baby... I had my first real bundle of joy last year. You can imagine how happy I am that he has already taken a liking to cooking (mad skillz in his play kitchen!). Of course I couldn't be the doting Mompreneur I am today without my better half. During our "free time" (there isn't much of it these days), we're out and about in the San Francisco Bay Area enjoying the outdoors, eating (duh), drinking and daydreaming about our next big trip.
OK, here's the bottom line: I’d be honored if you welcomed Global Grub into your kitchen for your next cooking adventure. Pretty please remember to Cook, Eat, Share. Cheers!
